The African Innovation Foundation (AIF) has recently launched its Innovation Prize for Africa (IPA) 2018 competition. 

The theme for this year “Investing in Inclusive Innovation Ecosystems” demonstrates the commitment of AIF to strengthen African innovation ecosystems by supporting a culture of innovation and competitiveness, whilst spurring growth of innovative, market-driven African solutions to African challenges. Submissions will be judged on the backdrop of IPA’s themes supporting social and economic innovation in the following five categories: manufacturing and service industry; health and well-being; agriculture and agri-business; environment, energy and water; and ICT showcasing ground-breaking innovations. African women innovators are especially encouraged to participate.

On top of the lucrative cash award of US$ 150’000 for the three winners, US$ 35’000 to seven nominees, AIF provides various opportunities for the winners, nominees and other participants including :

– Access to the AIF networks via its platform ZuaHub.

– Post-prize support

– Funding opportunities to showcase innovations

– Local and International publicity

– Networking opportunities
