On Thursday 19 March 2026, the weekly Council of Ministers meeting, chaired by Captain Ibrahim TRAORÉ, adopted a report on the results of the 2025–2026 vaccination, deworming and artificial insemination campaigns.
The report on the 2025–2026 campaign sets out the following results:
- 2,345,284 cattle vaccinated, representing a 12.21% increase compared with the previous campaign;
- 4,825,041 small ruminants vaccinated, representing a 36.4% increase compared with 2024;
- 1,564,059 small ruminants vaccinated against pasteurellosis;
- 19,408,349 poultry vaccinated against Newcastle disease, representing an increase of 41.17% compared with the previous campaign;
- 4,144,129 birds vaccinated against fowlpox, representing an increase of 2,803.35% compared with the previous campaign (142,736 birds);
- 148,237 domestic carnivores vaccinated against rabies, representing an increase of 101.02% compared with the previous campaign;
- 80,470 cattle vaccinated against foot-and-mouth disease as part of the artificial insemination programme;
- 34,329 cattle vaccinated against anthrax, representing a 465.55% increase compared with the previous campaign;
- 161,808 head of cattle vaccinated against contagious bovine nodular dermatitis;
- 1,457,257 fish vaccinated against streptococcosis.
During the deworming campaign, 957,920 cattle, 1,109,511 small ruminants, 2,775,360 poultry, 198,701 pigs and 393,961 carnivores were treated. The artificial insemination campaign, launched in June 2025, had resulted in the breeding of 12,203 cows by 31 December 2025. For these operations, 2,875,887,450 CFA francs were mobilised for the purchase of vaccines, of which 2,018,356,690 CFA francs were provided by the State, representing 70.18% of the funding.
The Council of Ministers commends the commitment of public and private stakeholders in the livestock sector and encourages them to maintain their efforts to strengthen the health and protection of livestock during future campaigns.
