In the country of “bicycle chicken”

Burkina Faso produces +34 million chickens every year. In the villages, almost all families rear chicken traditionally.

“It’s an activity that can really help women to come out of poverty. The production of local chicken is not a busy activity. The chicken likes that we give a lot of attention to it, and we as women, we are often at home. Hence, it is an activity that is convenient for us,” says Hélène Kabré, poultry farmer at Nandiala.
